All the new things in life

So a funny thing happened to me just now. I thought "I should really get on the blog and let people know what is going on with us." And sure enough, I had a comment letting me know that someone (Lindsey) needs an update. Imagine that!!! It's only been a few months!! I always say how we are boring and nothing ever goes on, but this time I SO do not have this excuse... I actually have stuff to put on here. :) Now I just need to figure out where to begin...

January...
Boring month... Until the final day, Friday 1/31/09 @4:30 AM.. I was woken up to my husband moaning something about a stomach ache... I figured he was just being a baby. And moaned something random and ambien induced back to him. He went to the bathroom and when he came back in I was very quickly woken from a very ambien induced sleep by the words "I'm peeing blood...". MY POOR BABY!!! We rushed him to the emergency room to find out that he had a very bad UTI accompanied by a kidney stone. The doctor told him to just go home and take lots of pain pills cause it's would hurt like the dickens when he passed the thing. "Blah blah blah... Feels like childbirth... Blah blah Blah... Pee through a strainer... Blah blah blah... If you don't pass it in 2-3 days go to a Urologist..." We got him home and in bed just in time for me to get another hour or so of sleep and then go to work for a nice and busy Saturday of doing hair. My poor clients...
JANUARY ENDS

February...
Adam did not pass his stone, so February started with a bang.. WE went to the urologist who asked for the CT scans they did in the ER. Well, they didn't. He couldn't do anything until he had a scan of the stone to see what in the H was going on. So, we got scan #1. The doctor said to give it 2 weeks, and if he still hasn't passed it, come back. "In the meantime, please pee through a strainer wherever you go.."

Now, Valentines day. We did nothing. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHAHAHAHA. Actually, I did get surprised a little. We don't really do presents for this weird holiday, but Adam decided to take me out to dinner the day before so as to miss the crowds. It didn't actually work out that way, but it was a nice though, and a great dinner at Macaroni Grill. On the actual day of St. Valentine I worked, and Adam was occupied at the State High School wrestling Championships at UVU. His cousin Kevin was wrestling for Cedar City. He got home a little late, so we ordered a V-Day pizza and had a calm evening at home.

NOW.... 2 weeks has gone by since we've been to the ER and the urologist. Adam has still not passed his kidney stone. He goes back to the urologist who wants another scan. (p.s.-they can't do the scans at the doctors office... he goes somewhere else for that) He then talked to the doctor who wants to give it another week. OH---By the way, he said that if someone doesn't pass a stone by 2 weeks (It has now almost been 3), you aren't going to do it on your own... BUT--Let's give it another week.
2/25/2009--The orem condo officially went up for sale!! WE'RE MOVING PEOPLE!!
FEBRUARY ENDS

March...
OH, this lovely moth of March. The specific date it Sunday 3/1/2009. We wake up, we cuddle, we watch a little T.V. I'm wrestling with the idea of going to church. I was just so tired... I talked to Adam about it and told him that I just really felt like we needed to get up and go, so we did. We got about 1/2 a block away from the church and Adam's kidney starts bugging him. He told me he couldn't sit through church. So, we went back and he urged me to go back by myself, but I took my phone so he could call me if he needed. I got to church about 30 minutes into Sacrament meeting. And literally as soon as the closing prayer person said amen, my phone was buzzing. Adam told me I needed to come take him to the ER. We went in and the drugged him up real good. I have never seen him like that. It was CRAZY!! They did scan #3, and the stone was still in the same spot. The doctors at the hospital gave him some great meds to help with the pain and told us to go back to the urologist the next day. Adam called first thing in the morning and they couldn't get him in until Tuesday, so we waited... He came home from the doctor and they had scheduled surgery for the next day. Needless to say, he is now feeling much better. The stone is gone and he no longer pees blood. YAY!!!

Now as for me... I have been dealing with one eye watering uncontrollably for about a month. About since Adam's first trip to the ER. I was taking any allergy medicine I could find. except eyedrops... I don't exactly enjoy eyedrops. Don't know why... After Adam had his surgery, I finally went in to figure the mess out. Seems it wasn't allergies... Hence why the pills weren't working. It was a little something they call Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis. "What the the dickens is that?", you may ask... Let me tell you... Giant papillary conjunctivitis is a condition that mainly affects the underside of your upper eyelids. The conjunctiva is a transparent membrane that covers the white portion of your eye and continues back to also line the underside of your lids. Normally you would think of conjunctivitis as a type of "pink eye". This is true when the inflammation affects the VISIBLE portion of the membrane, but it is still a conjunctivitis if it only affects the "invisible" part that lines the eyelids. The "giant papillary" part of the condition refers to the clinical appearance of the eyelid lining. There, the doctor will find very large bumps or "papillae". Just looking at a patient's eyes may not reveal any signs of the disease, but if the eyelid is everted (a painless maneuver to expose the underside of the lid) the diagnosis can easily be determined. Basically, it's sick... And I can't keep make-up on my eye for longer than 1/10th of a second usually. And how do I get rid of it? ALLERGY EYE DROPS! But not regular over the counter ones... Really expensive perscription ones. That I get to use once a day halfway into the summer. YAY!! Hehe. I'm just glad I know what it is, and it's not serious. It only sounds like it is.
Well, there you have it my avid blog readers. I will try harder to keep you updated on a more consistent basis. But in the meantime, just know that all is well in the Soper household. We have gotten an offer on the condo to which we responded with a counter-offer. :) I'll let you know as soon as I do if we are moving and when. We love you all.

Geez Louise! That whole kidney thing sounds horrific!! One question...what does a pee strainer look like? and how do you sneak it in and out of the bathroom undetected? just wondering. Really though, that sucks!
And your eye? Cowers...you two should be locked down for quarantine. Here's hoping the sunny weather brings better health...and not allergies!
(and it's not "poor clients", it's stinkin' lucky clients to have such an amazing stylist! love ya!)
